Educator, User Experience Design
About the role:
Remaining on the cutting edge of design theory and practice can be difficult for those in full time design roles. BrainStation Educators are offered the unique opportunity to apply their knowledge and further develop their skills, while teaching in a dynamic, project-based setting.
Our Full-Time programs consist of 10 weeks of over 400+ hours of in-class deep learning with a low student-to-teacher ratio. You will join a team of educators to help develop, co-author, and deliver our adaptive curriculum to ensure that content being taught is relevant to today’s technology industry. As a BrainStation Educator, you are passionate about technology and teaching, hold leadership qualities, and fit with the BrainStation culture.
Who you are:
- A User Experience/Design professional that meets one of the following:
- A certificate, diploma or post-secondary degree relevant to the subject matter of the course and 2 years of work experience in a career occupation relevant to the subject matter of the course
- 10 years of work experience in a career occupation relevant to the subject matter of the course
- Extremely comfortable with industry standard tools used for design and prototyping software solutions: Sketch and InVision are a must, Adobe Suite is a plus.
- Have a deep understanding of design thinking and the frameworks used by organizations to design highly usable and compelling digital solutions.
- Have some experience teaching, mentoring, managing projects and/or leading teams.
- You are a life-long learner, always eager to improve yourself.
- An engaging and motivational leader who can speak with confidence in front of an audience.
- An empathetic, inclusive, and patient individual who enjoys helping others and facilitating learning.
What you’ll do:
- Deliver lectures and mentor the best design students in the world
- Work with the User Experience Full-Time Educator team to research the most current design skills, tools, processes, and technology trends to incorporate in our curriculum.
- Apply design thinking to the program to continuously improve the educational experience for students
- Facilitate in-class activities, group discussions, demos, design challenges, deliver lectures, and provide constructive feedback for grading student work.
- Support the admissions coordinators with student onboarding and PTIB policies – including the maintenance of digital student files, documents, records, and report cards.
- Define the educational experience of the future.
