RaspberryPy to RustyPi: Porting a Python module to Rust
I will be sharing my experience with learning Rust. I ported a functionality in Python to Rust for the Raspberry Pi Sense HAT module, specifically writing out to the LED matrix. I hope to inspire other Pythonistas to try out Rust.

Speaker background: I have been using Python and embedded computers in an academic research environment and on personal projects since 2011, mostly for scripting, cobbling together open source libraries, building simple remote sensing systems and data analysis. My previous jobs include sensors R&D at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and energy policy research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. I currently live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
